CHS
Yesterday, Mary Ann Gawelek and I met with some of the administrators at Greensburg Salem School District: the superintendent, the high school principal, and the director of secondary ed. Among other things, we discussed Seton Hill's College in High School program, aka CHS. CHS is when high school students, usually seniors, take high level (AP, Honors) courses at their high schools and earn Seton Hill credit for it. These courses, AP Calculus, for example, go through a process here at the University to be approved for CHS credit. Then students take classes as they normally would and can then receive a SHU transcript to use if they attend Seton Hill after graduation--or to take to another college of their choice. Cool, huh?
So far we mostly do CHS with Catholic schools:
BISHOP CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL (Ebensburg, PA)
DONAHUE HIGH SCHOOL (McMechen, WV)
BISHOP MCCORT HIGH SCHOOL (Johnstown, PA)
GEIBEL CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL (Connellsville, PA)
GREENSBURG CENTRAL CATHOLIC (Greensburg, PA)
SALPOINTE CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL (Tucson, AZ)
SETON-LASALLE HIGH SCHOOL (Pittsburgh, PA)
