From Guest Blogger, Kristen Lippencott, Admissions Counselor
This week on campus SHU hosted the Neighborhood Academy for their third summer camp. There are 39 students and 8 counselors on campus participating in a number of activities. On Wednesday they worked in the SHU gardens and did some general weeding and helped make our campus even more beautiful.
On Monday, I gave a tour to those students who had not been here previously and they were extremely interested in the campus and asked great questions about the school and some of the buildings and paintings. I also facilitated a presentation for the entire group about the college selection process. We did a group activity about what they were expecting when they get to college, and what some of the challenges to overcome would be. I was shocked and pleased by the realistic and honest responses they had and shared with the rest of us.
Friday morning, they will have a closing ceremony from 10:00 – 12:00. Looking forward to next year already!
