It's time to register for Spring classes!

If you are a student you have probably received a letter in the mail with your class registration sheets for Spring 2005. This can be a very hectic time trying to decide what classes to take and figuring out how to do your registration sheets. If you are an upper classman you are probably a pro at this, but I can remember how I felt uneasy my freshmen year.

The first step is to pick up a Schedule of Classes from the Registrar's Office, and then set up an appointment with your academic advisors. Search through the schedule and see what classes you need and what classes are available. The book will give you the name of the class, Course ID, the instructor, the time and day(s) the class meets, and the location.

Before you meet with your advisor it is a good idea to already have a plan for what you want to take next semester. Also, I suggest making a list of questions you want to ask your advisor so your meeting is productive. Take advantage of receiving assistance from your advisor, because he/she is here to help you.

Once you decide on your classes and have your advisor's approval, then it is time to register. There are three ways to register for courses:
* You can go online to Campus Connect and register for the classes you decided on.
* After you have your form completed you can drop it off in the Registrar's Office (Admin 110). I have always registered this way, because I feel better knowing that I turned it in and the person received it.
* Finally, you can mail or fax your completed form to the office on or before the appropriate date.

There are different days to turn in your forms. Graduate students and Senior have the first opportunity to register. If you are a freshmen you may think this is unfair, but it is actually very logical. Classes can only admit a certain number of students. If you are a senior you need to be guaranteed a spot. It would be much easier for a freshmen to have another opportunity to take a class, than a graduating senior. Since classes do fill up, it is a good idea to register on the first date available to you. Below are the dates for registering:
* Wednesday, November 9, 2005 Graduate students.
* Thursday, November 10, 2005 Seniors, Second Degree, and post-baccalaureate Teaching Certificate students.
* Friday, November 11, 2005 Juniors.
* Monday, November 14, 2005 Sophomores
* Tuesday, November 15, 2005 Freshmen
* Wednesday, November 15, 2005 Unclassified students (not degree seeking)

Pages 1-3 in the Schedule of Classes includes detailed information on registration. Remember to register early so that you will have a greater number of course options. If you have any questions post a comment or contact the Registrar's Office.

Filling out a new registration card means that the Fall Semester is half way through. I hope everyone has had a great beginning to the 2005-2006 school year.
