Track and Field at Seton Hill
Merry Christmas to all of us at Seton Hill! Santa gave us an early Christmas present this year by adding Track and Field to our growing list of sports that is now up to a whopping 19! The first season will be in the 2006-07 school year. Keep watch for further details!

Hello, I know you dont know me but I am graduating next year and this is one of the colleges I am interested in. Why dont you guys have a fencing team? Cause thats a sport that I know alot of people would enjoy. Anywho, I was wondering if you could tell me about your experience at Senton.
Thanks for your time!

I think its great that Seton Hill yet again brings in another sport for which they have no facilities to support the program (running track, pole vault runways, long/triple jump pits etc.) Get ready to compete at a nearby high school future Griffin track and field participants.

Hi, Timothy, my name is Megan Ritter and I'm a sophomore from Maryland. To get straight to your question about fencing, last year there was actually a small fencing club on campus, led by Dr. Atkinson, one of the math professors. It faded away at the start of this year when several of those who were part of it graduated or transferred, so as of now it's on hold until more people express interest in it. My roommate is one of those looking to get it going again!!!
As to your other question, what do you want to know specifically about Seton Hill? If you have specific questions I'd be happy to answer them. For now I can tell you generally that while Seton Hill was not my first choice college, I've been very happy here (happier than I would've been at my first choice, I think). Let me know what specific questions you have, (what are you looking to major in?) and feel free to email me at rit5960@setonhill.edu :)

Thank You so much for your response! I had no idea that SHU had a fencing club. Thank you again for providing your email for perspective and current students to email you directly and ask questions. It is great to see that you are willing to share your SHU experience. Thanks!

I understand your concern regarding the facilities here at Seton Hill to accommodate a Track and Field team. For Seton Hill to grow, adding new facilities, programs and sports are crucial. We are in the process of researching different facilities in the area to accommodate us for the future Track and Field. This would be temporary.
As you know, we have amazing facilities that have been recently constructed for the sports teams that have been recently implemented as well as the teams that have been on campus. We have the new McKenna Center, the new fields below Lynch, and the new Field House. These are all great additions to the university that have been added in the past few years. This is a great accomplishment and the arrival of Track and Field facilities will be soon to follow, I am sure. For Seton Hill to be what we want it to be, we need to grow, and with growing we will have growing pains. I encourage all to keep an eye on us and see our development to come! Track and Field is a great addition to our growing sports roster. Go Griffins!
P.S. Naming a new Residance Hall Seton Hall? Maybe that should be brought up at the meeting when recommendations for a new name come up? :)

How about St. Vincent Hall? ;)

I am with you. St. Vincent could definitely be a possibility...

Ashley,
I think one of your phrases completely identifies the main problem some of us at SHU are having with the new additions to the campus. Exactly what do we want Seton Hill to become? Has this question truly been given ample consideration or has it been suppressed in the wake of progress? :(
