Growing Concern...Literally

There have been students that have expressed concern about Seton Hill and its progress. I think I need to say to you that I sympathize completely. As an incoming student in the class of 2000, I was a part of Seton Hill College. At this point in time, there were a handful of male students on campus…now we are 60% female 40% male. We were a College…not a University. Havey Residence Hall was specifically for seniors and the rooms were SINGLES. This is to just name a few differences.
My point is, to sustain with the economy and growing culture, Seton Hill, among other colleges/universities had to change as well. More and more students are going on to further their education and if we do not keep up, there will not be a Seton Hill.
Change is a part of life…I am sure the first graduating classes of Seton Hill in the 1910's were not in favor of Seton Hill becoming co-educational, but we did and look at us now. We were and always will be a Catholic University…we will always keep our family atmosphere and it will always be home to many.
There are so many analogies that I could give, but the bottom line is life is ever-changing and we all need to understand that. To keep afloat we need to do the right thing and Seton Hill University is doing so…patience is a virtue, right?

I work at a Catholic high school in the Washington, DC area that also had to go coed to survive about 10 years ago. My sister-law graduated from Seton Hill in 1962, Nanci Curtis Briggs, and she would be very proud to know that her nephew is going to Seton Hill. As a family we are very proud to continue the traditions. We feel he is at home.....
