Long time no blog!
Sorry everyone…we have been swamped here in Admissions, hence the lull in blogging. We have a number of events coming up and this is a very busy week for the university!
Today, we have Transfer Orientation; tomorrow, Thursday, we have the last Freshman Setonian Day (orientation); Friday, is Move-In Day for freshman; Sunday the residence halls open to all returning students and Monday is D-day. The first day of classes!
I can’t believe how time has flown by this summer; but I am also glad because that means fall travel season is starting. Starting in September the counselors here at Seton Hill will begin to travel with visiting high schools and attending college fairs. This is a great opportunity for you to find out about SHU and get to know your Admissions Counselor. Just as a re-fresher, the following is a list of our awesome counselors and their territory.
Ms. Jessie DeHainaut – Northwestern PA; Westmoreland County; and New York
Ms. Ashley Hoffman – Eastern PA; Westmoreland County; New Jersey; Maryland; Deleware; and Virginia
Ms. Ashley Josay – Western PA; Westmoreland County; Ohio and West Virginia.
Ms. Kristen Lippencott – Transfer Counselor
Ms. Billie Rood – All states that do not touch Pennsylvania
Ms. Quiana Golphin – Campus Visit Coordinator. Please contact her to arrange a visit to campus!
Hopefully we will see you all soon!

Yes Ashley, our travel season is just around the corner. I'm sure all of the counselors in the Admissions Office are realy looking forward to meeting all of the new highschool seniors who are trying to decide where they will spend the next 4 (or 5) years of their life. This is a very confusing, yet exciting, time for most students. In hopes to makes things a little easier, we travel around to local schools and offer to speak with anyone who may be interested in Seton Hill. Even those who have never heard of SHU are welcome to meet with us to find out more about our school. This is a great opportunity that you don't want to miss! You have the chance to meet one on one with the person who has a lot of influence in your future. We are the people evaluating your applications and sometimes it helps when we know you personally. My advice is to listen to the morning announcements at your school and read the signs in the school hallways. We always advertise when we are coming and we usually only stay for about 1/2 an hour. Again, you don't want to miss out! I am aware that a lot of times students don't want to miss out on the club or class they are in but even stopping by for just 5 minutes so we can meet face to face is very helpful. Oh, and please don't be afraid of us. We are very laid back and we will not drill you with questions. We just want to make sure you have all the information you need to help you make a decision. I hope this helps and I am looking forward to meeting a lot of students this year!

I agree! What an exciting time for seniors, researching and discovering new things.
But don't forget to remind your students who live in Central PA that you, Billie, are the person they need to contact and you can fill them in on all the exciting opportunities here at SHU...as can all the other counselors, no matter where you are from.
