No twiddling your thumbs here!
Yes, my friends, it is that time of year. 26…yes, I said 26 days until the first day of class! Can you believe it?
As returning students and incoming freshman come to campus, the question always comes up, “What is there to do and how do we find out about it?”
I am here to help.
There is always something fun and exciting happening on campus throughout the week and on weekends. The Student Activities Council plans various events every weekend during the fall and spring semesters for students to relax, have fun experience new things, hang out with friends, and meet new people!
Some highlights of past events on campus include: foam dances, coffee house musicians, laser tag, inflatable rides, comedians, hypnotists, Kennywood days, Pirates/Penguins games, and trips to Washington D.C., Pittsburgh, and New York City. We have many university celebrations also – Homecoming, which is Oct. 6,7, and 8th this year; Family Day, Christmas on the Hill…just to name a few!
In addition there are programs that are coordinated by student organizations. For example, Make – A – Wish organization coordinates the House on Haunted Hill for the campus and surrounding community.
Don’t forget about the array of sports to be involved in as a player or supporter. We have the lawns, fields, and courts for volleyball, tennis, and basketball for student use. The Athletic Department coordinates an intramural program also, based on student interest.
I know what your next question is…”How do I find out about all the things going on?”
Again, I am here to help!
There are a number of ways to find out what’s happening on campus. Check out the Communicator online campus bulletin that is updated daily; the student newspaper, the Setonian, which is issued four times per semester; the online campus calendar of events on the homepage and there is also a calendar located outside the Activities Office (Maura 223) for further club and event information.
Now, you can’t say I didn’t tell you what happens on campus, when some events happen, and how to find out all of this information!
