Here it comes! The University Center for Performing Arts!
Wednesday, November 1st, marks the official (visual) beginning to our FABALOUS University Center for Performing Arts!
At the bottom of Seton Hill’s long entrance drive is the redeveloping Cultural District of Greensburg. Recently, Seton Hill, along with the City of Greensburg, the Redevelopment Authority of Westmoreland County, the Greensburg Salem School District, local legislators, and the Westmoreland Cultural Trust met to explore the feasibility of working together to further renew downtown Greensburg while addressing the University’s facility needs.
The project that the partners embraced is the construction of a cultural center – The Seton Hill University Center for the Performing Arts. The Center for the Performing Arts will bring two of Seton Hill’s most vibrant programs – Theatre and Music – into the heart of the City. The Center will also serve as the completing piece of the Cultural District, with the Westmoreland Museum of American Art at one corner and Seton Hill University at the other, linked by the historic Palace Theatre, the restored Greensburg Train Station, cafes, restaurants and bookstores.
This facility is a long time coming. The theatre students have been utilizing the theatre on campus that is located under Reeves Library for a number of years and now they will have a state-of-the-art facility! The Performing Arts Center will not only have a performance area but also studio space, classrooms and much more!
I know I am not the only one on campus excited to see this new development! Seton Hill expanding into downtown Greensburg is a great thing for the community! Keep watching for updates on the Seton Hill website.

Come and celebrate Homecoming!
I remember my senior year of high school…homecoming was the biggest thing to go on for the year. It was all the glitz and glam of the homecoming court, the big football game, and the different events surrounding the weekend for everyone; from the little brother of the quarterback, current students, and the alumni! Don’t forget them! That’s the reason for this event! Homecoming is an event held by high schools, colleges and universities for visiting graduates of their Alma Mater.
Seton Hill University/Seton Hill College grads definitely have a lot to ‘come home’ to with all the new additions to the university. Homecoming will kick off Thursday, October 5th and conclude Saturday, October 7th.
Featured Homecoming events that are open to the public include comedian Hal Sparks on October 7 at 8:30 p.m. in Cecilian Hall; the Seton Hill Football Griffins v. Geneva College at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 7 at Offutt Field; Seton Hill Women’s Field Hockey v. Wells College at Seton Hill at 1 p.m., October 7; the first public performance of the new play “Mazel,” by Pittsburgh playwright Amy Hartman at 8 p.m. October 6 and October 7 at Reeves Theatre; sunset lantern tours of Seton Hill’s beautiful southwestern Pennsylvania campus at 7:30 p.m., Friday, October 6 (leaving from the first floor of the Administration Building). For football tickets, please call 724-830-1162. For “Mazel” tickets, please call 724-838-4241. For Hal Sparks tickets please call 724-830-1900. The Women’s Field Hockey game and the sunset lantern tours are free!
Come one come all! I know I will be there! :)
