Online Courses on the Rise
Here at Seton Hill, online courses are definitely becoming more popular. I am assuming this increase is due to the world wide interest in obtaining a degree online. For me personally, when I begin my MBA in the fall, it will definitely be something that I would be interested in because of the extensive traveling that I do for recruiting.
This entry was prompted by the article I recently read on msn.com, called Online-course Enrollment on the Rise. “Roughly one in six students enrolled in higher education took at least once online course last fall…” This increase is up nearly 40% than last year.
I think online courses are a great tool for individuals to use. In the past, someone might not have thought about taking college courses because there was no way to fit it into their busy schedule, but now getting a degree has become a little easier.
With the many benefits that online courses provide, I hope that attending a university and physically sitting in a class doesn’t go by the wayside. Getting the personal one-on-one attention and the comradery is something just as valuable as your degree.

I taught an online course last January. I thought the course was a success, and the students did too, but I always felt that I was endlessly preparing for a class discussion that never happened. I hadn't realized just how much I rely on class discussion to get a sense of what the class is getting out of the material.

I throughly enjoyed my experience taking an online course at Seton Hill last January. I can honestly say that I learned more in those two weeks than I would have learned had it been a traditional semester long class. The effort that a student must put forward for an online class (especially one during J-Term)is immense and forces them to be serious about the materials or be left behind.
