Crossing Boundaries

In a lot of literary pieces, crossing of a line or a threshold symbolizes the change from one side of the coin to another. Podcast 2 covers "Young Goodman Brown" written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, and one of the ideas covered is the beginning of the piece and how the significant even of Brown's crossing through the doorway of his house takes place. This crossing between the light and warmth of the home and into the dark and cold of the night outside shows the transfer between Brown's safety and spirituality and his journey into the darkness and the Devil's hands.

The threshold also has a significance when it comes to vampires, that need welcomed into your home or they cannot cross the threshold.
