I can honestly say that I have never seen a poet or other form of writer that has been so conflicting between publishers.
I never knew that Emily Dickinson's poetry was fought over by her sister and her brother's mistress. I knew that the majority of Dickinson's poetry was found by her sister, but I had no idea that Mabel took half of the manuscripts due to a property dispute with Dickinson's sister, Livinia. Talk about popularity!
I know this quarrel is totally crazy.
