Is Pennsylvania catching up to New York?

2nd area supermarket liquor store approved - 2004-02-24 - Pittsburgh Business Times
As of Feburary 24, Giant Eagle is allowed to sell alcohol (wine & spirits) in its grocery store. The Shop 'N Save in South Fayette was the first and costs the PLCB $50,000 a year. I think this is a step for the PLCB, I don't know in what direction. In New York, beer has been sold in grocery stores for as long as I can remember. I'm wondering why not sell beer in grocery stores before you try liquor. Wouldn't that be the first logical step?
I don't mind having to go to a liquor store to buy alcohol, but I would really appreciate if someone worked on making non-smoking bars.

I'm sorry, I know I've been posting repeatedly, and all in the same day, but this I had to comment on. They've slowly started banning smoking in bars...well, in Vermont, anyway. I was informed last week that the ban started in Burlington and South Burlington, and will reach Essex, Essex Junction and Colchester by the end of the year. Pretty soon, they're going to start banning smoking in public outdoor areas, such as Church Street, in downtown Burlington. Maybe a move across NY and into PA isn't far off?
