Maybe I should take up smoking

Workplace policy says that there is no smoking in the building. I'd like to compliment the company for such a policy, however, when second-hand smoke is the threat that the company is protecting its employees from, then why locate the smoker's area on the front of the building next to the entrance.
When you leave the building, there is a distinct aroma which surrounds you. What a pleasant aroma it is too! It reminds me of the rest of the policy regarding smoking.
The company does not mind employees taking a break every now and then to smoke a cigarette if it is done outside of the building. These employees which do smoke, therefore, get paid for their smoking time, while other, non-smoking, employees are encouraged to work through the day.
Maybe I should take up smoking so that I can have the extra breaks throughout the day. My job does tend to get monotonous from time to time and a taking a breather outside would be refreshing. If smoking is simply a hobby that you can get paid to do, then I don't see the problem with me and my new found hobby ;) blogging.
Do you think that it is a vaild argument for me to be able to blog throughout my workday, when smokers can "participate" in their hobby throughout the day too?
And hey, if I did take up smoking, I would have a special area in restaurants just for people like me.

There is also a special place in the hospital for you - on the oncology floor.
Don't start smoking! :)

I agree with Vandye-- no smoking! I take what I call "fresh air breaks" at work; I have the right to be outside as much as the smokers are.

Yes, take fresh air breaks - I started smoking when I was 19 because I was working a restaurant job where the only time you got to sit down was when having a cigarette! (I was the only non-smoker in the whole place.)
I love when my non-smoking co-workers come outside and shoot the breeze with me for 5 minutes during the day. In fact, you could find a buddy that does smoke and just ask him/her to let you know each time they go out and you could accompany them. That way you don't feel like you're cheating the company at all!
