Will Setonian moisten its pages?

August 11, 2004

Up until now, there has been a ban on advertising alcohol in student newspapers. 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has declared this law to be unconstitutional and now alcohol ads are allowed in college newspapers.

Do you think this is something that should affect the Setonian?

If it does, what affects do you see as being positive vs. negative?

If the Setonian remains alcohol-ad-free, do you forsee it being the choice of the paper, or of Seton Hill?

I have a feeling Seton Hill wouldn't let it happen. I don't think it's really their place to say, and that it should be up to the Setonian, but we all know how uptight SHU can be. But the Setonian isn't known as being very liberal-minded either, so I think the outcome would be to leave it out regardless of who was making the decision.
