I think this essay shows how a lot of people act these days. Sex, swearing, drugs and alcohol are becoming more and more common, so as said in this article, the rappers are writing lyrics about what they see in the world. I am not saying everyone is at fault, and that it's always women, but with women being displayed as sex symbols and and having sex with more people more often, it's no surprise that these rap songs are downplaying women's roles. I personally cannot stand how women are used as sex symbols, but it's becoming more common and it is reality.
Question of Consequence:
Because women are being viewed as sex symbols and are having sex more often, they are viewed this way in these rap songs. Anything that happens creates something else to happen.
This essay shows that you need to do the things you stand up for. While many people may not understand what you're going through, if you don't persue what YOU want, how will you ever be happy? Kathleen was a mother of four, a strong Christian and married, yet she discovered she was a lesbian. Even though not one person in her family understood or accepted her the way she now was, she knew this was who she was. She knew that in order to be happy and to be the person she was made to be, she would have to live the lifestyle she wanted.
Question of Value:
In our society gay and lesbian people are often shunned. I personally do not agree with this lifestyle, but I do believe everyone has the right to do the things they want. Therefore, I think that Kathleen should not be shunned by those people that had loved her her whole life, just because she changed her sexual orientation.
This essay shows that if you have attainable goals, then when something really good happens, you can appreciate it so much more. Dick wasn't looking for a job that would pay him lots of money, he just wanted to make enough to get by. Since his standards weren't so high, when he was offered a job that would pay him ten dollars a week, he couldn't even believe it. I think therefore, he will be a better worker and will be rewarded much more than a person who got that job because it was just what they were looking for. If you're searching for something and you get just that, you will only work hard enough to keep your job. Dick is so surprised and doesn't want to let him down, that I think he will be a very hard worker who will be rewarded many times.
I think the reason that Trung Dung became so successful was because he knew what his family had given up in order for him to come to America. Most of their belongings had been confiscated by the government, but the little they had left, they put toward Trung's escape. His mother put her life on the line to help him to escape, and on his third attempt, he successfully escaped. Since Trung knew his family had given so much for him to come to America, I think he really worked that much harder in order to help them come over here as well.
