Response to About Marriage

Jerz: STW II: Agenda Item 1-4

Crittenden in this essay talks about people's view towards marriage and what the ideal marriage should be like. The author is arguing that people believe that marriage is supposed to be forever but these are still the same people that do not stay in these marriages. As a result, families are being affected especially wives and children. My agenda item is that how should families survive when they have been broken up?

China, I believe that the family can stay alive even if they have been broken up. As long as the adults can be civil to each other, I think that they can keep the idea of family alive for the children as long as they are not lieing to them about the relationship that is present among the parents.

I feel that a family can still be strong with only one parent. When i was 2 years old my family got broken up by my mother leaving my father. My other family memebers where always in my life such as my grandparents. I think that it a family is broken up then that the whole family should be there for them.

I feel that families survive because of the love and the bond that they share. It is harder for the single parent. They have to work twice as hard to keep the family they have together. Not only do they have to bond but they also have to financially stabilize their family. I think that it is easier for a family that has the support from both parents. Even when they are not together. As long as the parents handel the situation with care.
