I liked the fact that he educated himself in prison and he was able to do this all by himself. He talks about how he accomplished so much in prison like on page 251 where he says that: "I don't think anybody ever got more out of going to prison than i did. Infact, prison enabled me to to study far more intensively than i would have if my life had gone differently." He goes on to say that there are many distractons in colleges now and that there was no other placfor him to have attacked his ignorance but in prison which was where he made a difference in his life by studying for 15 hours in a day.
Thesis statement:
"Malcolm X was determined to make a difference in his life and he accomplished this through his efforts to become a better person while he was in prison."
A Holocaust Survivor's Story By Dr. Robert Mendler
I just got back from the lynch Auditorium where Dr. Mendler was talking about his life story. He basically talks about what it was like then, how the nazis mistreated the people and made them suffer, tortured the people for no reason, how people were starving to death, freezing to death, some people actually fell down and never woke up. He said that up until now he cannot believe it when he thinks about it and that it was almost impossible for people to survive and that he is lucky to be alive till this very day.
