Mine eyes have seen the glory of a well-formatted page

It's nice to read a book (here, buy a copy) that you don't constantly want to argue with. I agreed with almost all the points the author made in general, which bodes well for the rest of the book. The sections that I found most interesting were the last three, but I'll just talk about number five for now:

5. Computer-Screen Text is Hard to Read

If I happen to be making my merry way through internetland and happen upon a badly made website, chances are that I'll hit the back button without giving it a second thought. Badly made websites seem less credible to me, for some reason. I see a well made site as a book and a badly made site more as one of those end-times paphlets you get handed at the airport.

If the creator of said website decided that paragraph breaks are satanic, Blackadder ITC is his favorite font, and what our world really needs is a site that's got a bright purple background and green text, there's no chance. But I digress.

Blank space is a great thing! Human beings are lazy and have really short attention spans. You can't get away with freakishly long paragraphs on the internet like you can in books. Some people...really need to learn this. Including me. I tend to talk for a really long time in these blog posts because there's no one around to shut me up.

I suppose a good solution to this would be to read back over your site when it's finished to see if it makes you want to hit the back button and consult wikipedia instead.

Did you all notice how I used especially short paragraphs this time?
