Weblog Update

I've recently started working on changes to my weblog, updating it to make it run more smoothly and adjusting the general layout and style. Everything should be up and running normally now, but in the coming weeks I plan to tweak a few things and add some new features.

Any constructive criticism of the changes is welcome.

Thanks.

Wireless wonders

Well, after spending 3 days trying to configure my laptop to use SHU's wireless network, I finally figured it out. I can connect freely, at last!

Or can I?

I've spent a fair amount of time trekking back and forth across campus, trying to locate the best spots for access to the wireless network, and it seems to me like the signals are incredibly weak throughout most of the school, both inside and outdoors.

I have managed to find at least one good access point -- the computer lab on the 3rd floor of Maura Hall. But access from a SHU computer lab is sorta pointless.

I heard once that Reeves Library is supposed to be a great place for access to the wireless network, but for some reason I have found that the signal there is usually weak and prone to cutting me off.

::Sigh::

Well, hopefully the CIT Department will improve the network access points soon. If anyone knows of some good spots I might have missed, please let me know.

Squint-sized

Why have some of SHU's computer monitors been changed to annoyingly high resolution settings? I hate squinting at a computer screen when it is about a foot from my face.

Not to mention, it makes my blog layout screw up. Hehe.

Cut the one-hour class

A question for my fellow students: have you ever felt that some courses don't last long enough to grant you the opportunity to learn something valuable, or that others waste too much time trying, and fail? Jerz linked to an article on his weblog that really hit a nerve in this student's muddled mind. I recommend that interested readers check out the article, or just read his post.

D12 = Me

I just took the dicepool.com test that Neha pointed out on her blog. All of these online quizzes are getting addictive... Here are my results:

I am a d12

Take the quiz at dicepool.com

You are the rare, the overlooked, yet incredibly useful dodecahedron: the d12. You are a creative, romantic soul. You often act without thinking, but make up for your lack of plans with plenty of heart. You easily solve problems that stump others, but your answers tend to put you into even deeper trouble. You write long, detailed backgrounds for all your characters, and are most likely to dress up as one or get involved in cos-play. You can be silly at times and are easily distracted by your own day dreams, but are at the end of the day you're someone who can be depended on.

Fun with forms

Don't mind this too much. I'm just messing around with HTML again, testing form tags. Unfortunately, I can't make a functional form without running some scripts or signing up for a host... Maybe later.

Below Zero blockquotes. Below Zero blockquotes. Below Zero blockquotes.

Okay, it seems to be working now. If you'd like to know how to add customized blockquotes to your own blog stylesheet, open up the rest of this entry for instructions.

MT "Blacklist" Blocked Comments

Well, I recently tried to post a comment to an ongoing discussion about sexuality on Evan's blog, and I got an error message (over and over again), which prevented me from posting.

So, I posted my comment here instead... And I would also like to ask why my comment was considered "spam" by this plugin. The developer's website says that part of its programming takes a look at the content... If that's the case, and it blocked my comment because of the language used, I'm really annoyed.

The Myth of Race?

While I was doing some research on the many different types of diversity, I came across some interesting information on ethnicity.

Under Construction

Excuse the messy appearance and inconsistency, I am currently trying to resolve some template issues. I did manage to fix everything so that it can at least be read with ease. Everything should be fixed by Monday evening.
