When publishing to the sidebar, choose "Upcoming Events" as the Primary Category. Choosing more than one category is possible in the same method as for all other posts.

The post will publish on the main part of the blog and also on the sidebar (with the title as the link to the actual entry), but the entries on the sidebar will only update and/or file off when the category "Upcoming Events" is updated. Even if the actual post on the main area of the blog files off, the sidebar excerpt will remain until updated. If the category is not updated, the same post will remain in the sidebar area.

Best would be to title the event as the date. Ex. title: 1/25/06 meeting. Then, continue with the post in the Entry Body as necessary. Only an excerpt of the post will be displayed in the sidebar area, so only 20 words will be displayed.

# in Entry Body > 20, only 20 displayed, click on link to read all including Extended Entry
# in Entry Body < 20, all displayed, click on link for only Extended Entry contents

Use this feature to post meeting dates, activities, and other dated-materials (in place of a calendar on this blog).
