SHU Welcomes John Murtha

Mike,
Excellent - laughed hard enough that you owe me cleaner for my screen. I hope it gets lots of web exposure.
Posted by: Specter at May 15, 2006 11:05 AMKudos on your Murtha cartoon testimonial. I suspect it will be the only accurate representation of the congressman anyone on campus will get during his visit.
Posted by: Doug Book at May 15, 2006 11:18 AMI'm glad somebody stood up to the old fart. He should retire but is too vain to do so.
Posted by: Xixi at May 15, 2006 12:02 PMGood job!
From someone who once lived in Greensburg and whose mother once taught there.
Your response plus the heckling was totally unexpected, signs of hope for this old guy.
Keep the faith.
Hmm. When McCain gives a pro-war speech in New York and the students heckle and criticize him, you call it "The Angry Left." Why isn't this "The Angry Right"?
Posted by: Jim H. at May 22, 2006 7:37 PMThis doesn't necessarily go back to Right or Left in terms of commencement speeches. The real complaint goes back to using this special day as a soap box for personal/political gain. All Murtha, and McCain should be doing at these speeches is using their experiences to motivate and encourage graduates. Keep it about graduation (which is a non-partisan event) and everyone will be happy.
