Ergodic Games
I feel that video games are extremely ergodic in their methods and the uses of games but games are not all formatted exactly the same. However, games do share aspects such as title screens, menu screens, save options (in modern games). These characteristics of games let the player know that they are playing a game and also allows players to play a vast array of video games without having to figure out which commands this program will understand. Games are created with this user friendly fashion for the reason of making it easier to use and therefore sell more video games.
I agree with you about video games containing the same formats such as title screen and menus. This is mostly true among all video games. I like how you said "in modern games" because just how you said explains that IF games did not contain these menu and title screens. I also agree that it is important to have uniform commands on all video games because of how hard it would be to learn new commands for new games. Video games are user friendly just like websites are usually. The video game industry trys to make video games easier for the player and less difficult before actually playing the game. A question that I thought would be good to consider was, "When IF games were very popular did the player find it user friendly?
IF games were popular once? Ha I'm sorry, that's just my own negative attitudes towards the genre. I can answer this from personal experience. I had a friend in High School that played a lot of IF games and the games were easy to him. For people that play a lot of IF games, they are very user friendly unless the programming contains a lot of bugs. This friend of mine would sit and fly through IF games much like I fly through shooting games.
