From the stands to the inside scoop

For many years, i have been going to games to watch for enjoyment. However, this past saturday, was the first of many games to come that i was actually watching for a specific reason. I had to write an article on the 1st home football game. I really enjoyed the game, even though they lost. But what was the coolest was that i went up to kids, teachers, coaches and players and interviewed them about the game. I learned a lot from this experience. After i was done interviewing, i looked at my notes and saw how many un-necessary questions i asked. They didnt really have to deal with what my topic was about. I ended up writing about how many people were against having the football team here, because they were giving out large amounts of money. I also learned how to approach someone and interview them, not just go up and ask the question. I really enjoyed doing this assignment. Hope there is more to come.

I completely know how you feel. I went to the dorm opening and I felt so important and professional going up to strangers and asking questions. I'm glad you're experience went so well!!

At the game, I know how you feel Dena, it was hard. Especially interviewing coaches and players..I wish that I could have gotten one or two more sources, but the game was beginning and I had other things I had to do after the game. I searched the Trib, and my own blog, and couldn't find anything.

If you think the assignments in newswriting are tough, though, try working for the setonian.
