I've learned around here, not to blame the Pres for things. I do agree, that gases prices have been rising regularly since he was in office.

This recent raise, however, you can not blame on him, but on Katrina.

Katrina wasn't around 3 weeks ago when gas prices were 2.49-2.59 locally. Katrina wasn't around for the past 3-4 years that gas has been hovering around 2.00 a gallon. (with the exception of last year around election time, when it mysteriously dropped into the 1.59 range.) It is interesting however, that since Mr. "I'm lookin for a good cowboy" has been in power the oil corporations have boasted record PROFITS, in the BILLIONS of DOLLARS.

Also interesting to mention this administration's policy regarding gas-guzzling (like.. 8-10 mpg/city, for REAL) SUV's over 6,000 lbs, such as H2's, Excursions, Suburbans, etc. Yep, now you can get a hefty tax break on these things.. practically get one for free if you claim it "for work," although if you want a Toyota or Honda Hybrid, you are paying out the ass in taxes.

Oh wait, they did just suggest legislation that would increase mandatory mpg. requirements... to be effective by 2014.
