Blog Portfolio 1- - -EL150

This is the first blog portfolio for Introduction to Literary Study. The class so far has been very interesting and informative. The texts that were due were a great read and enjoyed most of them.

Coverage:

Foster Ch 1, 2, 3 and 5
These chapters were a great read before we really got into reading play after play. It helps seeing where the authors come from.

Foster Ch 19 and 20
This was a neat reading to learn from. I really took a lot from these chapters.

Bernice Bobs her Hair
This story really related to a lot of girls in my school that are like Marjorie.

Foster Ch 10 and 12
Like I said before, great before reading To Build a Fire. I think it helped everyone in the class to better understand the story.

To Build a Fire
A life lesson was learned from this reading...You only live once, live it out to the fullest. The man wanted to achieve climbing this mountain and he would do what ever means necessary to do it. He wanted some risk in his life.

The Machine Stops
SCARY! It is hard to think that in a couple decades that our society could end up like this story, considering we are all ready addicted to cell phones, computers, palm pilots, mp3 players, etc.

Poetry 2-10
These poems really made me look at life.

Nature Poems 2-13
Somewhat childish were some of the plays. I also enjoyed having Dr. Jerz's children say them. It related very well.

Poem by Eliot 2-15

I thought that the character in this play was having a hard time telling the one he loves how he feels.

The Raven 2-15
Very symbolic poem.

Shakespeare Sonnet 2-17

Academic Article
Probably one of the easiest academic article to understand. It related and included very helpful ideas that helped me to really understand the poem.

Antony and Cleopatra Act I and II
I never read this play before so it was new to me. It reminds me of a Romeo and Juliet play except it is really hard to feel for Antony or Cleopatra. Not very likeable.

Antony and Cleopatra Finish
Finally finished it and it wasnt to bad. I didn't want it to end like Romeo and Juliet, but i guess it gives the play more action and emotion. You really find out who really has the power in this half. Was Antony more powerful or was Cleo?

Discussion:

Bernice Bobs her Hair
I started a long discussion on my own blog when I started to talk about how I hate girls like Marjorie. I got to see peoples viewpoints on the character.

Shakespeare Sonnet 2-17
I kind of got on the wrong side of the men in the class after blogging on this sonnent. But hey, it started discussion not only on my blog, but other students and in the class.

Wildcard:

Diagnostic Essay
I really enjoyed writing this essay. I got to show a personal side that was developed through literature. It became my mother.
