P2: First Draft

A complete article, between 800 and 1000 words, conforming to AP Style, that you plan to expand to create your 1500-word feature. If your article is longer than 1000 words, cut out a section and put it in an end note, in order to get your draft down to size. Include a bulleted list of additional work that you plan to complete, taking special care to apply material about online journalism that you drew from We the Media.

Dr. Jerz, do you want us to write the feature article as an online article -- in other words, linking to websites or other sources and with a "web writing" style?

I ask because of your mention of the material about online journalism in We the Media.

I would welcome an online writing style, but I was planning to have an exercise near the end of term where we convert the print-style prose to make it fitting for an online article.

For the rough draft coming up, I'll be satisfied if it's just a good article, written in traditional style.

Is there anything unique about the online writing style besides links and co-journalism with a comments page?

If we aren't writing for an online medium, how do you want us to relate the material about online journalism to our article?

Johanna, I'll be satisfied if the draft that you turn in today is written as a traditional print media article.

This draft doesn't have to implement all the items in your bulleted list.
