I think some public schools, such as the one featured in this article, are heading in the right direction by teaching students how to use Facebook. Allowing students to use sites like this also dissuades students from using it to post vulgar content or create misleading images of themselves.

I have never used "Facebook" so the concept is all new to me.Ido believe that some people use it to their advantages in demeaning others therefor destroying their credibility. "one bad apple spoils the whole bunch". I also believe that you give up your rights when you post a piece of art or writing on communities as such, making it public domain,it makes it much easir for somebody to steal.Using "facebook" ina college setting in classes may lead to negative consequences.

I have mixed feelings on the topic-- while I think that students should be exposed to it and understand how to use it, as well as the risks, it's a double edged sword. A lack of knowledge is dangerous and it is important to be as well-informed as possible.

On the other hand, with the new feature that Facebook has recently added, it's easy to 'follow' a person and keep track of whenever they update pictures, friends, join or leave groups... it's all more than a little frightening and overwhelming, really. But this could also reflect back to teachings kids to be a more careful and cautious.
