Potentially yes,the internet is a danger zone. Not being involved in a child's life as a parent does have negative consequences,I do not see this as overbearring but a mere safety net for a child as there are many dangerous predators in cyberspace ready and willing.I for one believe that a child will rebel if you keep the chain to tight, give them some space but not too much nad you will see them be more respectful towards the parent and the content of what they "choose" to do.

It is scary to think that one photo or personal detail is all an online predator needs to find an internet user. I think parents should monitor their child's internet usage and use software that locks certain sites. In today's day and age, kids must be taught to use the Internet safely and effectively if they are to succeed.

I was aware of the online dangers of the internet. I just hadn't realized how frequent danger occurs and that there are more than one type of predator. Agreeing with both Jeremy and Katie, parents should monitor their childrens' internet usage. The internet is no different from being out in the real world. It has its dangers and consequences and parents should realize that. Everyone should be more careful about what they display online for anyone to see.

I think that parents just need to realize that online is not a way of parenting, nor is is a replacment for a human being. Parents need to be aware of what their children have access to and what they are gettting into by being an active part of their lives. I feel as though submisive parenting is a big part of online preditors and dangers sucess rates.
