Jerz: Writing for the Internet (EL 236)

Project 1 Proposal

The project will ask you (working individually) to make and publish a basic website that demonstrates your developing ability to write for the internet. Today all I'm interested in is an informal proposal, posted to your blog, in which you link to two or more sites that illustrate the kind of thing you plan to do. Your project should have a home page, at least three internal pages, and plenty of links. Who are the potential readers of your proposed web site? If there are already web pages out there on your proposed subject, why does the world need another one? What special perspective or knowledge do you bring to your subject?

www.robertpollard.net/, is one site that I would like to mimmick, and www.magichat.net/, these are two sites that I frequently visit.
I do not think that I want to advertise music, or beer, I think in general that I want to advertise something, not sure what.
I like the layouts of these sites and the fact that they are easy to navigate.
The potential reader of this site would be men in their late twenties to early thirties.
I in interested in this particular genre of music and into microbrewed beers.
I think that I would advertise about being a man, and defend our rights as citizens.I am hearing alot about men being degraded by their significant others lately.

Would it be permissible to do a portfolio website as my project?

Karissa, that would be fine, as long as there is some original writing (including blurbs).

Jeremy, most of the MagicHat pages that I saw were very heavy on graphics and light on writing. Since this course doesn't focus on graphics, I'm not sure that's a good site to emulate. But a site that gathers links to men's news and comments on gender issues from a man's point of view -- now that seems to be more manageable.
