Jerz, ''Poems: Short but Effective'' -- Jerz: EL150 (Intro to Literary Study)

One Perfect Rose

"A single flow'r he sent me, since we met.
All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet - -
One perfect rose."

I really liked this section of the poem because I could relate to it. I think that all poetry is effective, but when you can relate to it then it becomes very important. I believe that this quote is referring to a relationship and a man sending his girlfriend or wife a rose. My personal experience was that I always send my girlfriend flowers and especially roses. The detail and desciption used in this poem brings out the meaning of what a single rose can do.
