Unresolved ER

"One of the true tests of leadership is the ability to recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency."
Arnold H. Glasgow

Warning: this is a rant about my health and the annoyances along with it.

Only having a little bit of knowledge ranks right up there with headaches and siblings as far as annoyances are concerned. My particular annoyance began at around 11:00 p.m. Wednesday night. It began in the form of some pain in my lower left side. Not being completely unreasonable, I told my sister about immediately. She in turn told me to tell my parents about it, which I did. My EMT father told me to go to sleep and call the doctor in the morning.
Thursday morning the usual morning madness played itself out. I called the doctor's office pronto at 8:00 a.m. However, they didn't get a chance to call me back before I had to leave to babysit for the day. They did call my cell phone, which was conveniently dead, and left a message saying to call them back.
At around 1:00 when there was some down time which during which I could do so, I called back. After a discussion with the nurse, I was told to get to the ER within the next two hours. A large number of phone calls later, it was arranged that I could.
I get to the ER at around 1:30. The doctor looks at me, does a urine-analysis (which I could have had done at the doctor's office - go figure), gives me a prescription for pain, and sends me home. Since my doctor's office is right next door to the hospital, I go straight there and set up the earliest possible appointment, the next day at 10:15.
In the night, to add to my health enjoyment, I start throwing up and then the pain gets even worse. At around 5:00 a.m., my parents are debating over weather or not to make another ER run. They finally decide that my regular doctor could call up more tests to figure out what on earth this is more easily then could an ER doctor. So we wait it out.
My doctor looks at me, does yet another urine-analysis, and then orders up an x-ray and two different ultra-sounds. He also gives me another pain prescription and yet one more for nausea. Yay! another trip over to the hospital! Only one of the ultra-sounds could be done because I ate after throwing up (excuse me, I didn't want to throw up nothing . . . )
The x-ray went along normally, though I have no idea what the results were. After waiting and having an extremely embarrassing internal ultra-sound done, I was told to go home. So we stopped back at the doctor's office and set up another appointment, for Monday.
So the moral of the story is: I hate not knowing what on earth is wrong with me!

The Joy Of My Website

"Welcome to dkducky.com - Home to the frog"

Well, for the amount of time that I've been investing in dkducky.com lately, you can't really tell that much from the appearance of the site.

Well, it all started when I found the "Top 100 Disney Songs Countdown" from Ultimatedisney.com. Being one of those crazy people who drives down the road while singing at the top of her lungs, I had to look for all my favorite Disney songs. After multiple examinations of the list, I found that I didn't agree with it. The order just didn't seem right to me. So I decided that, since my taste really didn't match the list, to make my own.

Okay, I'm not as stupid as I sound, or at least I hope I'm not. I know that any personal countdown would simply be that, personal. I don't want to make a personal countdown, I want to prove to myself that my taste in music isn't terrible and create a modified list that - I hope - will do so.

And my website, dkducky.com, is just the place to do so.

So now itís the simple matter of finding as many Disney songs I can think of and posting them all so that people can vote on them . . . so that people can vote on them . . . ummm, errrr, how do I make it so that people can vote on them?

As anyone with an experienced computer eye will tell you, my website is simple. Lets face it, it has to be, I don't know that much about coding and I'm way to stubborn to use a website creator program. (Even if I can't do much, I want to do it myself.) So this countdown task made me call for reinforcements, DADDY!

So that is the basic story, for the last week my Dad and I have been working with forms to figure out how to make the vote for my countdown work. Tonight we managed a success, the "contact me" section of dkducky.com. The link used to simply open up your computer's default email program with my email address already typed in. Now well, make me happy, go take a look. ; )

In case you are interested, the countdown vote will be up before we all head back to SHU!
