Such a simle question, "Why?", but one that Forster stresses we should never forget. I found this quote incredibly inspiring, despite the overall depressing tone of Forster's short story, "The Machine Stops." Kuno's bravery and defiance against the Machine and its generated way of thinking reminds us that we must forge our own paths in life, rather than simply following the actions of others.
