(I accidentally came across this article this evening, while perusing Newsmax.com – I’m very thankful I did find this out.) Sister Lucia dos Santos, last remaining seer of the apparitions of Our Lady in Fátima, Portugal, died Sunday evening, on February 13, 2005 in her Carmelite convent in Coimbra, Portugal.
Our Lady first appeared to Lucy, along with her cousins Francisco and Jacinta (both of whom died not long after these apparitions occurred), while tending their sheep in Cova da Iria, Portugal on May 13, 1917. Our Lady appeared to the children several times after this first meeting. She was sad that people kept sinning against God, and came to warn us that if we did not change our sinful ways, God would punish the world with war, hunger, and persecution of the Church. The information Our Lady gave to the children, known as “The Message of Fatima,” (which mainly took place on July 13, 1917) is divided into three parts. In the first part, Our Lady showed the children a terrifying vision of hell. In the second part, she asked for the conversion of Russia to her Immaculate Heart as well as the First Saturday of every month Communions for reparations be made to atone for the sins of the world. She said that if Russia were not converted, it would spread its errors throughout the world. (Please keep in mind, the Bolshevik Revolution took place a few months later, in October 1917 - The birth of the Soviet Union.) There is much controversy surrounding the third part, also referred to as the “third secret,” and whether it was truly revealed. It was not supposed to be revealed until 1960 (or Sister’s Lucy’s death, whichever came first). However, Pope John XXIII read the secret in 1960 and decided not to disclose it. Cardinal Angelo Sodano publicly “declared” the secret about five years ago.
The information I have disclosed is brief. If you would like to learn more about Our Lady of Fátima, please see:

FATIMA: A Grace For Humankind
Although I will not say much about the subject, I do not believe that Cardinal Sodano fully disclosed the secret (or if the four sheets of paper written in Portuguese are the real thing), and I do not believe that Our Lady’s terms have been fulfilled. I worry that the third secret may now be lost forever as a result of Sister Lucy's death.
Irmã Lucia – May God bless you, for you have remained faithful to Nossa Senhora de Fátima and her requests. Little did you know when Our Lady said that you would remain here a little while longer, that you would stay here for over 80 years. Thank you for the sacrifices you made for the Catholic faith and the world.
A Note to All Catholics:
Please make sure when you pray the Rosary, to add this prayer which the Blessed Mother requested at Fátima, after each decade, after the “Glory be to the Father,”
“O My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy.”
Posted by EmilyKasky at February 16, 2005 02:03 AMremember the prayer that Archangel Michael taught the children at Fatima...it is beautiful and one of my favorites: "Oh most Holy Trinity Father, Son,and Holy Spirit, I adore thee profoundly and I offer thee the most sacred body and blood soul and divinity of Jesus Christ who is present now in all the tabernacles of this world. And I do this as a reparation for the outrages, the sacriliges, and the indifferences by which he is offended. And by the infinite mercy of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I do beg for the conversion of poor sinners." the most important issue to come out of Fatima was the urgent need to convert sinners - the whole purpose of Christs death and ressurection was to save poor sinners from going to hell. Mary appeared at Fatima in 1917 to put an exclamation point behind that fact - please pray for conversion and pray for all those who have no one to pray for them!
God bless all who believe.
