I think Huck is a lot smarter than the reader knows. He knows between right and wrong and we see that here when he is referring to the king and duke. I don't think he gives Jim any credit for also figuring out their lies. I think different to Tom, Huck knows what he is doing and still doesn't do anything about the situation. Is he careless or scared?
