Martin Luther King Jr.

I attended the Martin Luther King Jr. program. It was very powerful it contained song, dance, and a slide show. The dance showed the audience that no matter who a person is we can all be friends and comfort each other. When the slide show came along, the most powerful quote for me was. "If you can't feed 100 people just feed 1" Mother Theresa. That quote was so powerful for me, I never realized that a person can make a difference even if it is just to one person. Through the slide show it hit me that I can help and make a difference. I understood Martin Luther King Jr.s speech more through this program, the dream isn't just about blacks and whites coming together but all people coming together to make the world a better place. People today should be more understanding, everyone is the same we are all humans and we all make mistakes. I learned so much by going to this program that I will take with me even when I graduate from Seton Hill.

America the Beautiful: What We�re fighting for

Is America a place that other countries should model themselves after? America has crime problems, money problems, and moral problems. Other countries have problems just like the United States. What makes the US a place that other countries should be like?

By Any mean Necessary

The government can take all precautions and terrible things will still happen. No matter if the government would put riders on planes, trains, and buses people in the world would still find a way to hurt other people if they want to. Why did this change happen, from being peaceful and not worrying to having to worry and watch your back?

Let America Be America Again

America used to be a place of no worries, children could walk to school, but not anymore. There are people in the world now that can and will do harm to other people. America used to be a peaceful place and now a person has to worry about their fellow Americans.

Mickey Mouse & co.

Americans views are distributed all over the world, not by the government or any other person but by entertainment and sports. Is it good for other countries to have another countries views passed on this way?

War on terrorism

When September 11th happened only a few countries helped the US out. The Unites States is the first country to send money and help if any other countries need it. Why should the US care about other countries when they don�t care about America enough to send help and support over?

From Notes on the State of Virginia

I really wasn't sure what my agenda item should be for this story. It's about Thomas Jefferson being a racist. I guess my agenda item is that Jefferson lived a long time ago and he was a racist. After all these years haven't people learned we are all equal? After all these years and all the events that have taken place in the world, why haven't people realized their fault in being a racist and to let the world and its people be at peace?

Assimilation

In this story a giral was married and had children with this man. She is sleeping around and the story made it quite clear that the man she was cheating with was an Indian. She is an Indian, but she was married to a white man. I think that race is something that bothers her, because she kept on making comments about whites and just race in general. It made me think, in mixed couples todaydo they feel this, but are still in the relationship for who knows why? Deep down does it bother them that they are in a mixed race? Does it bother them what other people think, even though they say it doesn't?

I'm Black, You're White, Who's Innocent?

A guy wants his daughter to have a better education, but he says she will lose touch with her blackness. I don�t really understand that. We learn in schools about important inventions, people, etc. I don�t know about back then but it didn�t matter if they were black or white. In schools today are they being racist or are the schools just trying to teach what they think is important? At least for the school I went to, it was head up by predominately all whites, would I have been taught differently if there was diversity on the board?

I have always wondered what is going on in the minds of the people that hate another race. Why do people hate and did something cause this to happen? I don�t agree with why he just decided he needed to hate someone so he picked the black race. Some questions I was asking while reading this story are the following .Why the black race, why does he have to blame another race or another person? Is it his choice that he decided to hate the black race instead of anyone else or is it because his father was in the KKK so he followed in his footsteps? Did he decide to hate the black race, because of how he was brought up?

About marriage

I think that it is so wrong what this story is implying. It is saysing that since women don't stay at home with the kids and clean the house that men are leaving their families. Men in different families play different roles. In one family the father could be the stay at home parent or in another family the father could be the only one working. In any way the family works both parents are needed for different things. Dad's do certain things in the family and so do moms. Both parents are needed to raise a child or children. I think the problem is that couples aren't talking before they get married about the way they want to raise a family or even live. Also couples don't realize how much of a responsibiliyty marriage and raising a family are. So I think that is the problem, it isn't because of men and women aren't still playing the roles that they used to in the past.

Aunt Ida Pieces a Quilt

This poem really brought out in me alot of emotion. I really like this poem, because it shows that people with AIDS are just normal people. They didn't do anything wrong to get this disease. It is just somethng that happened to them and they didn't deserve it. The poem shows that these people are really missed when they pass away and the quilt is a little part of him that the family can keep with them.

Not knowing a parent

in this story I think Bebe snapped, because the one girl said that her father made her a dollhouse. Since she doesn't have a good father figure around she snapped at the little girl. A father and mother play big roles in their childrens lives. Bebe had a biological father who stopped and visited from time to time, but she didn't have a dad. A dad is someone sho helps thier child and is in their childs life. I feel bad for Bebe , all she had was a father who would stop in a few times. I now realize how lucky I am to have both of my parents.

Changing the TV line up

In the story they are saying there are more shows that have couples or at least one person on the show that are gay or a lesbian. Shows should be comong out with these kinds of people on them. That is the reality, there are people that are raising families and they are gay or a lesbian couples. More shows should come out with people like this, because it is reality that these sort of things are happening.

Fly Girls

Music has taken women from being fly girls in past music lyrics to women being Bitches and ho's in present music lyrics. Women used to just show off their bodies, but now women go all the way wth alot of guys according to the music lyrics of today.

Question of Value:

It isn't a good thing that men view women like this. Not all women are like that, men should judeg and say that all women are sluts and ho's. Not all women in today's world are sluts and ho's, but there will always be some women who are like that.
