this article spoke of the way other minority groups have been treated because one person of their ethnicity has committed a crime against the U.S. This passage I thinks ask the question is Reducing one’s freedom ok? If yes, why are we called the land of the free? Why is there a saying “Let freedom ring?”
Muslims and Vietnamese were treated indifferently because of what one of their native people did to the United States. Everyone is not the same. Many individuals do have a heart.
Agenda Item: Is limiting our freedom "ok" when it come to taking precautions?
I think limiting our freedom is "ok" when it concerns the safety of Americans BUT we should not go around saying we are sooo free when in an instant the government can turn around and target people and take away their freedoms.
Posted by: Jen at April 13, 2005 02:42 PMDUDE! Jen is soo right and thats exaclty what I was trying to say in class!!!!!!!! But I just dont know how to put things into words and it always comes out like a dumb blonde comment!... anways... this is just like my agenda item, but since more people havent posted yet here goes...
I think we do need to take precautions since we barley took any and turned our heads b4 9/11... But I think some are just overboard. I dont have time to type everything out what happened to my father when he tried flying and got stopped like 90 million times... but a part of the maham? Just a little insight to peoples stupidity...
My father had JUST gotten surgery and it was apparent that he had surgery... they found pain killers in his bag when they stopped him 1 of the many times... questioned him a ton...
then took the pills 1 by one and put their faces to the table and were tapping them to make sure they were not little bombs...
OK!!! GOSH! If it were a freaking bomb it would blow up in ur face you retard! People kill me sometimes! ugh ne way
yeah.... hahahaha
I don't think people should be violated just because of how they look. This does happen now with people that look Muslim in America, but it's not the first time that this has happened. After the bombings in Pearl Harbor during WWII, all Japanese living in Hawaii were also considered suspicious and if they were on a boat without an American flag they were sent to concentration camps.
Posted by: Caroline Jones at April 13, 2005 07:37 PMI think that it is ok to limit freedom when you are doing it for precautions reasons. I feel that if you are of Arab and flying in a airport people should ask you some questions.
