America The Beautiful

The term “Ugly American” is a degrading term that no one here wants to be called. However, for years we have degraded the people of other countries and called them names a lot worse. After 9/11, there have been a lot more names that we have been called due to our political views and opportunities. It is now time for our political leaders to rethink our approach to world politics and the way we treat so called “Third World Countries.”

So here's my agenda item: Where does the name calling stop and the peace begin? How can we talk shit on other countries and not expect them to talk shit on us?

By Any Means Necessary

This aritlce helped me to solidify my standing on the Patriot Act. If our country had enabled this law before 9/11, the chances of it happening would have been less. I know that the only reason that we have this act now is to keep terrorism from happening again, but wouldn't it have been nice to never have to go through 9/11? My agenda item is: How much freedom are you willing to give up so you, your family, and your future kids can be safe?

War On Terrorism

This comic strip sorta disterbed me. It taught me alot by reading this article. It was very interresting since it was soooo easy to read. After reading this article and some other blogs our other students, I have come to realize that people do not understand politics. My agenda item is: How are we to fix our own problems when all are problems are based in other countries?

Hughes' poem

I had to read this poem a couple times to fully grasp what Hughes was trying to say. I think his points are very misleading. Although he does make us feel like America was trying to trick us into believing our life is better here than anywhere else in the world, he doesn't take in account we took in the people no one else wanted. Don't forget that we take in thier sick and tired and poor. Is America a land where everyone wants to live. If so, then why do people attack us like on 9/11.

Mickey Mouse

Entertainment and the media affects every aspect of our lives. This is also true in other countries. But is it too much for our countries entertainment and media to have a great affect on other countries? How would we feel as a nation if another countries views and entertainment were pushed onto us?
