Home Stretch (or Limp)

Well ladies and gentlemen, it is that time for us to sprint to the finish line. First, let me say to the freshman who made it, congratulations, you are going to do very well in college. Because if you can withstand Newswriting as a freshman, you can take on the rest of the classes. Not saying the Newswriting sucked or anything, it was really one of the most time consuming and challenging courses I have taken.

Personally, I am just absolutely excited that this semester is coming to a close. This was by far the hardest semester I have had to endure, and I am coming out alive (*Whew). I don't think that I have ever been challenged by my professors like this before, and I know that if I took Newswriting as a freshman, I might have torn my hair out.

In contrast, I must say that I have an absolute new found respect for journalism. I believe it was Lorin Schumacher that said, "I can't believe that you are a lit major. I really thought that you were a journalism major." Then I thought about it, and came to this conclusion. No, I will never be a journalism major or be in that profession. But just in case I change my mind, I know that I would be ready for something like that. Not to mention that I can understand and give so much more credit to journalists AS A CONSUMER.

I took a lot away from this class, and am grateful for everything that has been taught, not only by Dr. Jerz, but by my classmates as well.
