Profile Writing: Jumpy and Confusing

| | Comments (0)

The one thing that bothers me most about profile writing is the randomness of the information the writer sprinkles throughout.  This is the way we are apparently being taught to write profiles, but I can't stand it.  When I read about a person, I don't want you to tell me what city they were born in on one page, and the year they were born three pages later.  Hopefully, there will be a compromise in how these profiles are written.  If writers are now expected to write out of order for newspapers, just wait until I get to my essays.  Bet you won't like reading inconsecutive mumbo-jumbo then!
