October Break Update

Today I drove my dad's new truck. It's a standard. Clearly, I drove it in an empty parking lot.

May I just say that I am very confused about the whole "braking" issue. My dad has convinced me that, yes, you do need to use the cluch when breaking, however, I just don't understand why. It seems to me like you only need two pedals to drive a car.

I quote my dad on my driving ability and my upcoming car purchase: "An automatic is in your future."

In other news, I'm cramming for my dentist appointment tomorrow. I've been flossing up a storm. Thus, my gums hurt.

I too, will never understand why anyone would bother with a standard when there is such a thing as an automatic. Besides... how can you drive a standard on long car trips? Wouldn't that get annoying?

Meanwhile, flossing is great :-) I'm still trying to apologize to my dentist however, for neglecting to wear my upper retainer back in 10th grade (and for letting my teeth move maybe a millimeter). I was tired of spitting on people while trying to talk.

DH: I picture you spitting all over while wearing headgear. Muh ha ha!

Now now, let's be fair... it was just your regular run-of-the-mill retainer. It didn't look bad, since it was just one wire across my teeth, but the big hunk of plastic on the roof of my mouth made it difficult to speak :-(

Julie,
I feel for you on the learning to drive a stick shift. I am horrible at it even though I have made many attempts to learn.

Back in high school, one of my friends (a guy) tried to help me learn to drive a standard in his dad's 1982 Ford. It was awful.

In the end, I got us stuck in a pile of dirt and got mad and quit. I am not a patient learner, especially with driving issues!!! Hahhaah. Better luck to you!!
