No more secrets (on TV)
One small step for the lingerie world, one giant leap for woman-kind: Victoria Secret announces there will no longer be a televised fall fashion show.
Olga Vives, vice president of the National Organization for Women, praised the cancellation, saying the show only objectifies women."We're concerned young women think they have to look this way," Vives said, adding she hoped the cancellation is permanent.

I just read this on MSN and I am elated. Great minds think alike. I wonder if the show has been cancelled only because of the Howard Stern incidents or really because "the show only objectifies women"?
Let's hope next year, after the Howard S. thing is overcovered and boring, that this will not return. I fear it may return, because, as you probably know, VS is into semi-annual events. :-)

Apparently, the semi-annual is the only thing they know... Nonetheless, I believe that this is a step in the right direction in cracking down on the negativity in objectifying women.
And, to the "men" that may think there is no such thing as objectification, I have this to say: you're not a woman, it's not the same pressure. Don't we all know the pressure...

I'm just amused that they're just noticing it now... how many years in a row have they had the fashion show...?

I am disappointed that they are taking off the Victoria's secret run way show. There are plenty other shows, advertisements, movies, etc.. that show women with less clothing on. VS models choose to have this job and plus they are millions of models out there. Plus, this is ABC's most watched show (According to Good Day Live, airs at 12 noon on Fox). If people are offended by this show, turn it off!! There are plenty of other horrible shows that explicit women and VS is not one of them. Their billion dollar sales a year are not going to decrease either because women enjoy looking beautiful in VS lingerie. I think that cracking down on shows now because of Janet Jacksons little incident and Howard Sterns radio/tv show(Thanks Amanda).

Olga Vives is right but we should cancel a lot of other shows and movies then...
