Three inch scarf

I might have just made a knotted mess, spliced threads, and even poked myself countless times with the needles--but now I know how to knit.

Yes, look out world, I'm a knitting monster.

I suppose this is a "checkmark" on my Lifelong List of Things To-Do, right up there with getting the nerve to fly in a plane, eat raw fish, and get lasic surgery to be independent of my eyewear...

Okay, so learning to knit isn't as substantial as lasic surgery, but it's still pretty cool. I like making things out of raw materials, or turning something into an entirely different product; I especially enjoy doing this with clothing. So I think knitting might be something that I can really get into.

We'll just have to see. I'm still working on my very first scarf, and right now I think it's already three inches long... I guess I've got a ways to go... : )

That sounds really fun, Moira. I'd love to attend a knitting party. I'm pretty happy with my progress thus far, albeit only half a foot or less. *shrug* I'll get there...

I only know basic stitches right now, and I only know how to do a scarf--because it is a straight line. (I guess that could translate to a blanket, too, huh?) Socks or a sweater would be interesting... I think I'm hooked :)

once you have the basics down (knit and purl) it's pretty easy to get fancy.. just mix 'em up a bit. plus i find that the bigger your needles, the faster your projects get done! but hey! you can never have too many scarves.

anyway, i will definitely let you know when i have an exact date for my knitting party. i have also have Crafty Day IV coming up next month... do you like to craft as well?

Last year we made christmas cards, found books (where you cut and paste into old books to make 'em arty) and... bracelets, i think.. I haven't decided on this year's project so I'm open to suggestions!

Awesome site, Dr. Jerz :) Thanks for that!

Moira, I don't really know if I like to craft. I think that I do, but that's recalling my Girl Scout and summer camp days... I regret that I've lost touch with almost all sides of what I loved as a kid.

Ceramics? I did that once before. Wreath making, paper mache, beading. Could we do something with sequins???
