Day by Day, with Squirrel
Nothing wrong with a little bit of a late Christmas, right?
Absolutely!
I got to spend yesterday with Amanda, and we finally had the opportunity to exchange gifts. Wow, was I excited to give her the gift I made (with some help)... I hadn't been able to talk about it for months!
She had asked earlier in the week, "Is it blog worthy?"
Oh, is it ever...!
As we all well know, Amanda is the busy sort that tends to keep herself organized with detailed notes scribbled and scrawled in a planner or a calendar. What we also know about Amanda is her love for all things squirrel.
Why not combine two of her loves for a fabulous gift?
The idea struck me in July, so I've been planning this for quite some time. It's so difficult to keep such a wonderful thing a secret!!!
I created a Squirrel calendar. With the help of Marian and her boyfriend Jimi, we made a spectacular composite of seasonally inspired squirrel-esque prints.
I've posted the pictures for each month in the "extended entry" below--browse the squirrel calendar : )
Warning: It might take awhile to load all the pictures... I made them small so it'd work faster than the actual size, but it still might be slower than a normal page loads.
EDIT, 1/16/05: I've added some additional Squirrel pictures that I had taken with the help of my two younger brothers, Jacob and Caleb. I had showed Amanda the "spin-the-bottle" one, and she requested it in the comments, so here it is along with a few others. Click below, and scroll all the way to the bottom!

Here we see Squirrel celebrating the New Year. Happy 2005! [insert party noise-maker squeal here]
Squirrel has a Valentine...
Okay, so it seems that Squirrel might be sitting on the Easter Bunny's lap this time around. Happy Easter!
April showers...
...bring May flowers!
Squirrel loves the beach (so does Amanda).
Ooo, Independence Day and then it's Amanda's birthday on the 17th of July! :)
What could be better than camping out? Squirrel is loving the great outdoors.
Hit the books! It's back-to-school, and Squirrel is ready. What a good study-buddy.
Trick-or-Treat! Squirrel didn't have a costume, but he scored with the sweets.
Fresh, crisp fall air and clear blue skies... November is a breeze for Squirrel.
Squirrel is being Santa's little helper... Merry Christmas!
I hope you enjoyed the pictures. We really had a great time taking them...

And what Squirrel doesn't love PayDay? : )
Squirrel gettin' his game on with some friends...

And last but not least---
Ooo, pucker up, Squirrel! : D

That's hilarious.
Rainbow Hector is envious.

I found a place for the calendar: behind my door; I have a huge white space! I know it won't be "out in the open" per se, but it won't be in my closet. The calendar will be so close to my dry-erase board it won't know what to do with itself. mwhahaha

I really want the one of the squirrel playing spin-the-bottle, too. What a hoot!
This is the most personalized gift I've ever gotten. Thanks for making me feel special, Karissa. :-)

Great work! I'm a big fan of the "hit-the-books" Squirrel. Very adorable.
Perhaps you should submit one of these as an art piece for Consequences Eye Contact... just give it some crazy name that implies "consequences" that's what most people do!

I loved seeing the squirrel scoring the sweets!

LOL! Submit to Eye Contact... That won't be very "blind" in the judging... But it sure would be cute, huh?
I'm so glad you all liked the calendar--especially Amanda! And since she requested it, I'll post the additional photos that my younger brothers Caleb and Jacob helped me shoot (these include the "spin-the-bottle" shot, and others).
Dr. Jerz, Rainbow Hector doesn't need to be envious. Perhaps there could be a Rainbow Hector calendar made of all his traveling photos...? :) I'm sure he'd be a great model, what with those lovely color features!
