PC User No More: Mac Attack!
I relinquish my titles of "PC user" and "Windows user."
I've already broken off my long-standing relationships with the folks at the Dell Help Desk, who almost knew me by name. No more three hour phone calls to technicians with broken English. No more payments per-call because the warranty ran out. It was sad, but our relationship was too materialistic. It never would have lasted. (Well, it may have because there are always new problems for this hunk 'o junk, but just go with me here, k?)
Yes, in just a few short days I will no longer be imprisoned by Windows software running on an volatile PC.
I have purchased a Mac.
An iBook, to be specific, and I can't wait for it to arrive. I've had time to explore the difference between a PC and Mac thanks to Mike, and I'm turning in my Windows for Tiger, my desktop for a laptop, and my problems for some solace.
Additionally, I'll finally be able to take advantage of the fact that my family just recently set up a wireless network!
My friend Beth (another Mac user)commented saying that she thought of my bliss in purchasing a Mac when she saw the present promotion for a rebate on an iPod Mini with the purchase of a new Mac. I'll have you know that I got a silver one :-) Practically for free!
Ooo, I haven't been this excited about a computer since first getting one in 1992--*cringe* a Packard Bell that was quite good at the time, but quickly lost its luster as progress left this dinosaur in the dust.
I'll also be trying out the new "Mighty Mouse," which is brand new to the Apple line-up. How exciting! (At least, as Mike pointed out, I won't have to stumble transitioning to a one-button mouse since Mighty Mouse has two buttons just like most others. Apple's regular mouse is a one-button little guy. Cute, but I think I'd have a rough time adapting.)
I'm thrilled about my new computer and I've only ordered it! Certainly I'll have a lot to say once I actually get the thing :-)

you will be so happy. and it is super duper cute, as well. it is such an intuitive computer, all you have to learn is to do away with 6 of the 7 steps needed to do anything. it is so easy and smart. and cute. did i mention cute?

lol. i agree with the above commenter (: they are remarkably stylish. and woot for making it into entry text! i would totally pick either the silver or pink mini. oh i can't wait to see it. we can exchange mac newbie tips. honestly the one button mouse wasn't too tough to adapt to, macs tend to use more keyboard shortcuts (instead of right clicking, you would click ? or the command button) honestly though, i've had my mac since last christmas, and have needed to restart it (due to a freeze up) only once. ::knocks on wood:: as opposed to the dells we've had that have needed resuscitation daily. pah, pah i say to silly windows problems. welcome to a whole new world. (not to be confused with a brave new world, a la aldous huxley)
may the mac be with you. (;

Ah...a convert to the dark side... I, an ever-loving PC user, also made a recent upgrade, but to a ThinkPad T. :) I can turn on a little light at the top of my laptop to illuminate the keypad below -- it's these little feats of IBM ingenuity that I love.
And, good choice on silver for the ipod mini. I almost got the pink when I got mine, but started to become concerned that it was garish.
Happy laptopping! Does SHU have wireless yet?
