Carnival time--host of the posts

Hey, lit. crit. pals out there.

I'm still tinkering with the whole idea of a blog carnival... I'm not quite sure what we should write on, but I figure if we could get a group or two organized with a couple topics, we can get rolling.

(I tried to do a JWEB email, but my JWEB hates me at times, so sorry if this is less convenient.)

There don't seem to be any real guidelines to what we should write on (other than that it should be about lit. crit, duh). So I'll volunteer to be a host of the posts. I'd be happy to synthesize all the writing into a cohesive post.

My suggestions for topics are as follows:

  • how can we explain lit. crit. to non-lit folk?
  • in-depth info. on any of the specific crit. styles we've studied so far--your personal take on whichever one you want
  • what about the critics we've read so far has been most stimulating?

That's all I've got for now. Any other suggestions?

I thought it'd be fun if we all titled our entries with carnival things like ferris wheels, cotton candy, fun houses, and corndogs... just for kicks ;)

Leave a comment or just dig into an entry, if you want. I just thought it might be nice to organize a little.

Here's some love for my lit. crit. crew. <3

Karissa, any of your suggestions sound great. I'm being deliberately open-ended on this component of the portfolio because I want to see what you can do.

I personally like the third one for the carnival.

    Awesome--the open-endedness helps.

Denamarie, do you want to start something on that topic?

Anyone else wanna come to our carnival? :)

I like the idea of the third topic as well Karissa. Mind if I jump on board?

Would it be cool if I joined up. I liked your third idea the most, but I would also be open to any of your ideas. Sounds like fun though.

Excellent--Mitchell, Tiffany, you are both more than welcome to join! It seems like a bunch of folks are writing on the third idea, so have at it :)

Thanks for stopping by! I'm excited to see what everyone writes. Let me know when your post is up so I can synthesize...!

Get on board, Kevin! :) We're happy to have you.

Posted by: Karissa at February 19, 2007 7:40 AM

I also would love to jump on board - though look out - if you don't let me I may swim after you guys (and be sad). Blog entries up by Tuesday night?

Word, Diana. Hop on the carnival boat :-D Tuesday night is great.

Posted by: Karissa at February 19, 2007 3:24 PM

I may not be able to get to my blog entry until Wednesday night. I'll do my best but I just wanted to let you know that this may come a little later than everyone elses, but I still want to be on board.

Posted by: Tiffany at February 19, 2007 3:27 PM

    The sooner the better, Tiffany.

Just remember that I still have to write together the responses so I can blog it and put it in my portfolio and you all can link to it... if it's not done, that's kind of halting progress for everyone.

Just do the best you can. I can't ask for more... I more than know what the workload is like at the moment.

where do you want the blog-should I link it to your page? I am just wondering.

I can't eat fire or anything, but I cam bring my amazing wit to the carnival.

    Topic 3 sounds great.
