A lost battle

I thought I could win this one, but I was sorely mistaken... Everyone else at my house has been sick for weeks--mom, dad, and brother all coughing, sneezing, aching. I did my best to help care for them or at least do more around the house than normal.

Maybe I should've seen it coming. But I tried so hard to stay healthy...! Fortunately I was able to do nothing but rest all day today. I'm hoping to see the results of that tomorrow, but I won't hold my breath. After all, no one can really have goals associated with recovery from an illness when it's the illness and the viruses behind it running the show, despite my best intentions. If I could have goals, though, here's what they'd be:

That I can maintain a normal body temperature without shedding/adding layers of clothing by tomorrow.
That I can laugh without aching (and sit up without aching) by Tuesday.
That I can eat dairy products without feeling my throat thickening with each bite... by Wednesday.
That I can feel well enough to keep appointments I made for this week (namely Wednesday).
That I never end up renewing my subscription to laryngitis (which is what I'm worried this may be since, in fact, I recall experiencing some of these symptoms before).

If I was still an undergraduate, I'd probably feel obligated to write a reflection paper on how I have or have not met my goals (Ć  la Seton Hill). Instead maybe I'll just blog about it. At least I can't breathe on you from here, readers.
