Tickle Your Holiday Spirit
It's snowed about 4" this week (at least where I live). Without delay, the snow-haters begin their tirades--it's cold, it's wet, I can't drive in this, this messes up my plans, it's too bright out, my pets bring it inside with them, I hate brushing it off my car, my car doors freeze shut, now I have to put on snow tires, my driveway is packed in, it screws up my gutters, shoveling it hurts my back, the salt-melt makes my shoes ugly, and on and on...
I'm somehow always amazed at how much people can dislike snow. Personally I love it. I get strange looks, glares, and "yeah right"s from the people who rant about the snow, but it's true--winter is my favorite season. Snow is so much better than rain! It's usually pretty easy for me to get in the holiday spirit when there is snow on the ground and I have to bundle up to go outdoors. These are things I associate with happy times (not things I begrudge merely because the weather is, not surprisingly, going through the same cycle it does every single year in Pennsylvania--to the snow-haters I say, "If you really haven't figured it out by now, it IS going to snow here in the winter.").
So, having gotten into the holiday spirit, I thought that I would share my latest batch of articles for doityourself.com!
Here are all the ones I wrote for the holiday section (even though they're classified under different sections on the site). Enjoy, and learn something new about this festive time of year! (I know I did while I researched to write them!)
