And Bingo was not her name-o

My little cousins are intelligent little ladies. They are clever, cute, and curious (as I think all little girls should be). Today they visited for some post-Christmas family visitation. After Christmas gifts exploded in our living room and we had eaten my mother's hearty dinner, we relaxed on the sofa and played with the three dogs.

Trixie, of course, is a favorite. I'm pretty much convinced that everyone who meets her will love her. Both of my little cousins love dogs. They politely asked if Trixie could sit on the sofa and were pleased when Trix was traipsing all over their laps.

I don't remember which one of my cousins started it, but soon the unforgettable tune of "Bingo" was being fitted to Trixie's name.

"There was a farmer, had a dog, and [pause] Trixie was her name-o... T-R- [pause] blah blah blah! T-R-blah blah blah! T-R-blah blah blah! And Trixie was her name-o!"

I roared.

Evidently "Trixie" is not the easiest name for a six year-old to spell without ever having seen it written... Like a stupid adult, I explained how her name is spelled so we could try singing the song right. "T-R-I-X-I-E" is a little tough to fit to the tune without a bit of forced syncopation...

"T-R-blah blah blah!" Wow...
