All-star brother
So exciting! My brother Caleb was the starting pitcher for the USA v. World game at the 14th Freeport International Invitational Baseball Tournament! He and his catcher, Ryan Coulter, were the starting battery for the USA team. They did so well...
USA won 2-1. It was a great game. There were 20-odd players on the international team, but there were 46 boys on the USA team (!). Fortunately, my brother and his friend both got to play and represented our town well when they did. :)
The game was really packed. I would guess that there were about 2,000 people there. (The concession stand ran out of drinks by the third inning and had no food left by the time the fireworks started.) It was like a mini-Olympic game. Absolutely amazing. (And I couldn't help thinking that this event would make a fantastic study for ethnographic research in my field.
I'll post pictures when I can. My brother Jacob took video of Caleb's pitching. We are really (really) proud.
