23 and cupcakes
I turned 23 at 7:27 a.m. I was already at work, coffee in hand, and passing out cupcakes to my coworkers. That made me happy because when I was little all my friends would bring treats to school for their birthdays... but my birthday is in the summer so the only time I got to bring stuff was to band camp in high school. Today, though, I got to bring the treats! :)
When I got home from work, I had over 100 emails in my inbox! I'm really not used to that because I normally check my messages during the day. Not today... Most of them were Facebook notifications saying "So-and-so wrote on your wall." It's pleasant to know people are thinking about you on your birthday, even if Facebook does automatically list upcoming birthdays... The rest were either e-cards, birthday coupons for companies whose emails I subscribe to, or simple emails from friends.
I feel bad because several friends also called and left me voicemails today... but I really won't have the time to call and properly catch up until maybe tomorrow evening or Friday or Sunday. Gosh. I'm not a bad person for that, am I? My days have become so full! I like it in most ways and I'm especially happy to be busy and feel needed, but sometimes I need a few extra hours I guess.
It's been a good birthday, even though I did have to go to work. Here's to awesome August birthdays!

I like to look at Facebook as the best reminder of a friends birthday. No one wants to be that person who forgets someones birthday. It is a great tool to help you keep personal track records in tact.

You're not a bad person, Karissa. Just wanted to say "hi", but if you're busy, go to it. Nothing better than digging in to something new and exciting. Scratch that--cupcakes can top that.
